Will it hurt?
Yes it will hurt... but only for a little moment.
How old do I have to be to get a piercing?
Without your parents or guardian you need to be 16 years old with valid ID (i.e. Medicare, driver’s license or student ID).
How long will it take to heal?
There are no set healing time for any piercing as everyone’s body heals at a different rate. Different parts of the body also heal differently. It can take anywhere up to 6 months for a piercing to heal completely. Oral piercings tend to heal fastest while cartilage piercings can take longer.
How long before I can change the jewellery?
The longer you wait the better. We do not suggest changing your jewellery before 4 weeks.
What jewellery can I pierce with?
Insertion jewellery must be made from 316LVM stainless steel, 14 karat gold or titanium.
Can I swim?
Swimming in a chlorinated pool is not suggested. Chlorine can dry-out and irritate a piercing causing it to take longer to heal. Swimming in a lake can be even worse.
Can I tan?
In a clean environment but avoid oils or creams on the piercing.
Can I clean it with rubbing Alcohol?
Absolutely NOT!!
Can I work out?
Of course.
Can I sleep on it?
Probably not a good idea.
Can I put make-up or moisturizer on it?
When applying make-up or moisturizer avoid the pierced area. If the piercing is dry you can use vitamin E or olive oil to moisturize.
Will it sting when I clean it?
Not usually, however people with sensitive skin may experience a slight stinging or burning sensation the first few days.
Will it bleed when I clean it?
Not usually however a little bit of bleeding the first day or two in not uncommon. If you experience bleeding during cleaning make sure you are removing any crust on the piercing gently with a q-tip and warm water before rotating the jewellery.
Can I chew gum with a tongue piercing?
This is not suggested with a fresh piercing.
How long can I keep my jewellery out for?
There are never any guarantees, everyone heals differently. If you need to remove your jewellery for an extended period of time purchasing a retainer will ensure the piercing doesn’t close.
How long should I wait to stretch my piercing?
The longer the better. We suggest a minimum of 3 months between stretches.
Can I still breastfeed after piercing my nipples?
Provided the piercing has been properly cared for, yes.
How do I change my jewellery?
Most body jewellery is held closed either by pressure or a screw-like threading. With threaded jewellery you need only unscrew the ball (counter-clockwise) and slide the jewellery out. With the pressure jewellery like captive bead ring you can use clean snap-ring pliers to take the pressure off the bead and remove it.
Is it normal that my tongue is white?
You may be using too much mouthwash, rinsing too often or using a mouthwash that contains alcohol. Try diluting your mouthwash or try using sea salt instead.
There is a ring of white skin around either the top or the bottom of my tongue ring, is this normal?
While the scar tissue is not uncommon around the button of a tongue piercing the appearance of a hard or white patch of skin around the top can indicate that your barbell is too long and needs to be downsized...
What should I do if I want to remove a piercing and let the hole close?
Hot compresses on the area can stimulate healing. Also messaging olive oil or vitamin E into the area regularly can help soften the scar tissue.
Should I tip my piercer?
Tips are a nice way to show a piercer that you feel they did a good job and while tipping is not necessary it is greatly appreciated.
